For English, it has showed me that I can make a difference with just a pen. Writing to our government helps and supports what we want. If we can do this more and persuade people about the bad things that happen around the world, we can make a difference. nothing is more important then making the world a better place. The whole S.I.P helped me realize all this and I am thankful. Maybe one day things can change...

Poverty and spanish
For the spanish section, I looked into a lot of spanish speaking country and realized that racist and poverty relate because people are hated on because of race. Also, the people that control the countrie's wealth and trade can exclude other groups and they sometimes do that because they are discriminating againest their race.
Also, I learned that our country isn't the on;y country going through these problems. Hopefully, poverty will end one day and stop hunger around the world and discimination and hate.

Poverty and Math
For math, it was more then just numbers and graphs. For this section, I really looked at how many people in the world go through poverty. After doing my math, about 1 billion people, or one third of the world, are living through poverty. That is very suprising to me and I hope it is to you too. This should be a wake up call for everyone.
I even looked at the past poverty in the U.S.A. In 1960, poverty started high and but went down a lot. But then at 1975, that all chagned. It increased for about ten years then decreased again but not a lot. From 2000 to now, poverty in the U.S has gone up to 1.8 million people per year. I made a graph with these numbers and made equations and found over the years how much it increased or decreased.
conclusion:

Poverty and history
It was very interesting to look up how poverty effected us in the past and how it might be in the future. In this subject, I explored the great depression and how it relates to poverty. It does because the Great Depression is made up of depression and poverty because the economy was bad. People were unemployed and lost their houes. Poverty consist of bad ecomomy and The great depression went through a lot of that.
I also explored spanish speaking countries like Mexico and Brazil. These countries were going through a lot of history of poverty. Also, Africa and the countries that lie in it were going through extreme poverty. Basically for history I really focused on the past poverty because if this type of history accured, it could happen again.

Poverty and science
When I started out the special interest project, I took my time and asked myself " How does poverty relate to science?"
Well, I thought about it and disease and how it spreads and infects the body is science and poverty causes that. I made a website, a presentation and studied HIV/AIDS. It's very sad how people get this disease and how there is no cure yet. But if we stand up and fight poverty and AIDS, we can make a difference. Please go on this website and read the follow information at the top. If you proceed, you can make a difference.
